LET US HELP YOU
For the past 6 months I have been running an online Money Course working with a small group of clients and non-clients on transforming their finances. And it's been a life changing experience not only for the participants, but also for me.
I got to hear in depth - from highly capable, award winning professionals, earning good income - their struggle with spending and borrowing money, their first childhood "encounter with money", their regrets over lost opportunities and their hopes and dreams for a better financial future.
Every first Tuesday in May, I make sure I spend time to listen to the budget changes that the government announces. This year I didn't bother! The changes bring nothing but an election sweetener and more compliance for small business. Nothing exciting about that!
Here are the changes that you will need to know about whether you are working for someone, you work for yourself and/or you have a self managed super fund:
It’s the beginning of a new year, an ideal time to make New Year’s resolutions. Or is it?
I must admit, I often fail my New Year’s resolutions by the beginning of February – especially the “lose weight” one! I know the reason why. My New Year’s resolutions are usually weak, neither cemented in my core values nor my big-picture plans. I don’t even write them down! I realised that one BIG reason why New Year’s resolutions don't stick is our way of thinking:
“IT'S BEEN THIS WAY FOR SO LONG, I CAN'T IMAGINE IT WILL BE ANY DIFFERENT IN THE FUTURE.”
It's been a tough year. Not only for us here at Winner Partnership and Money Intelligence (we have problems too!) but for many people (clients and non clients) I know. I don't know about you but I will be glad to say goodbye to 2017 in couple of weeks and plan for a great year in 2018.
I have been thinking the past two weeks what message I would like to leave you with before the year ends. In light of a few sad and hard luck stories I have heard this year (attempted suicide, suicide, nervous breakdown, death of a child, death of parents, failed investment, failed business venture), I would like to leave you with my thoughts on resilience.

What do you want to achieve? It’s a big question. You’ve probably been asked it a few times during your life – by a boss, teacher, partner, friend. But have you ever asked it yourself – and truly thought about the answer?
Of course, achievement means different things to different people. Some people may think financial achievement means earning “a lot” of money. You may think it is getting a promotion, having a certain amount in the bank, or the ability to afford an overseas holiday each year.
In the beginning...
I began my business journey in 1995, while working full time for small accounting firms in Sydney. I drove around in my red Ford Telstar, doing people’s tax returns in their homes on weekends and in the evenings. Two years into the business, I bit the bullet and left the security of full-time employment for the bumpy, “joyful” ride of small business.
Worried if you will have enough money in retirement to maintain your current standard of living? According to research by the University of Melbourne, 47% of couples and 88% of singles are NOT on track to retire on a "comfortable" income. Take control and plan to secure your financial future.
Stress caused by personal finances affects 49% of people surveyed according to the Australian Psychological Society (APS). People can feel trapped and frustrated with their financial situation. How do you find a way out?
